After going through pregnancy and birth, the abdominal muscles, ligaments and connective tissue have stretched out and weakened. To effectively recondition the midsection, splinting and correct core exercises (ReCORE Program) should be done. Splinting brings the outer abs close together, holding the abdominal muscles in the correct position so that the connective tissue and muscles can heal correctly allowing diastasis recti or abdominal separation to heal. Most women have some degree of abdominal separation from pregnancy.

Wearing the FITsplint is similar to an ankle brace after a sprain. It may not be the most fun to wear, but can help speed up the healing process by holding the muscle and tissue in the correct position while protecting it from further stress or strain. Correct abdominal exercises help increase blood flow to the tissue to promote healing and should be done while wearing the FITsplint.
The FITsplint is not a corset. The FITsplint should be worn snug but not so tight that you cannot breath comfortably.
The FITsplint is not intended to cover the entire midsection top to bottom. It is designed to splint the abdominal muscles effectively between the ribs and hip bones. Material is flexible so the body can still move through a proper range of motion and be worn during daily activities and exercise.
FOR BEST RESULTS
The Post-Natal FITsplint should be worn up to 4-6 weeks while doing the ReCORE program or corrective exercises so that connective tissue can heal properly.
The material will stretch a little over time. If you are inbetween sizes, go for the smaller size.
**If you are currently pregnant and want to buy the Post-Natal FITsplint ahead of time, buy a size larger than your pre-pregnancy waist.

How to wear the FITsplint
Watch our VIDEO!
How is the FITsplint different from other post-natal belly bands, belts or supports?
Some post natal wraps are too tall or too stiff for proper fitting and comfort. The FITsplint is purposely shorter to fit inbetween the ribs and hip bones and more effectively pull the outer abs close together. The FITsplint has an inside silicone stray to help it stay in place. The FITsplint has 2 straps and is fully adjustable meaning you will get a secure and proper fit that you need. It is also flexible so you can move through a proper range of motion (stiff supports are for back injuries) The FITsplint's unique design allows material to crossover (splint) without the material overlapping.

What is splinting and should I wear the FITsplint?
Splinting is a crossover technique (similar to taping) used to help bring the rectus abdominal muscles together. Women who are immediately post-partum or women with abdominal separation 2 fingerwidths or larger can benefit from wearing the FITsplint, even if it has been 30+ years since having a baby. By wearing the splint and strengthening the muscles correctly, women can improve or fix their Diastasis and strengthen the core at the same time. The splint helps hold the rectus abdominus muscles in the correct position, allowing the connective tissue to heal. Correct abdominal exercises help strengthen the core and increase blood flow to the tissue to promote healing.
How do I know if I have Abdominal Separation or Diastasis Recti?
Find out by watching the VIDEO and check for the separation yourself!
I've heard that wearing a support or splint can make my muscles weaker? If the material was stiff (like a corset) and worn for 24/7 for several months without doing exercises, possibly. But we designed the FITsplint material to be flexible so it does not do all the work of the core muscles and is comfortable through full range of motion. Abdominal separation will heal faster when it is held in the correct position. The purpose of the FITsplint is to keep the abdominal muscles and tissue close together for optimal healing and prevent further stress on the weakened/stretched out tissue. Wearing the FITsplint will not strengthen the muscles which is why the ReCORE program should be done at the same time. The Post-Natal FITsplint should be worn for up to 4-6 weeks to help heal the connective tissue.
What causes the "Belly Bulge" ?
There are several contributors...abdominal separation (Diastasis Recti), stretched out core muscles, weak core muscles, external belly fat, excessive bloating and internal visceral fat.
Can I just wear the FITsplint to fix my Diastasis?
The FITsplint will hold the muscles and tissue in the correct position (similar to taping an ankle) making the exercises more effective and speeding the healing process -however, the FITsplint is not going to strengthen the weak and stretched out muscles! Correct abdominal exercise increases blood flow to the area to promote healing. A woman will get the best results by doing both at the same time. If the core isn't strengthened, it is easier for the diastasis to reoccur and worsen with each pregnancy or over time.
By doing the ReCORE program and wearing the FITsplint, will my belly fat melt away?
The best way to lose excess belly fat is by healthy eating habits, cardio and strength training combined. The ReCORE program focuses solely on strength training and reconditioning weak core muscles that contribute to the "Belly Bulge." Strength training will burn fat, but not necessarily from the area of the body that you would like. Spot reducing is a myth. The main focus of the program is to re-strengthen the abdominal muscles and other core areas (pelvic floor, back, glutes and postural muscles) as needed.
I had a c-section, can I wear the FITsplint?
Always check with your doctor. It is recommended to wear the FITsplint after your incision has healed (approx 6 weeks). However the FITsplint is typically worn above the incision, so some women have been able to wear it a little earlier without it bothering the scar.
I've read that I may need to "double splint" if I have a tall diastasis? This a term used by other programs, but we don't feel a woman needs to buy 2 splints to cover more fully from top to bottom. It may make you look slimmer, but isn't necessary more effective at pulling the muscles and tissue close together. The FITsplint fits around the most difficult area to heal (the belly button) The ReCORE exercise program and FITsplint have been successful with women of all shapes and sizes.
